"Clingy Types"

Late afternoon on a sunny day. I noticed a few bright orange leaves clinging to life for just a few more days. It's the beginning of November, so winter is just around the corner.

"Red October"

This scene is from about a month ago It was a clear blue sky and the bright red leaves contrasted nicely with it. Just had to commit it to canvas.

"Loops-2"

Another Loop Du Jour, as it were. I'm having fun with these. They're a way to relax after doing paintings requiring a lot more attention to detail.

"Say Cheese Puffs!"

Haven't done a still life in a while. So I thought I'd do one of one of my favorite snack/junk food indulgences--Cheese Puffs. Mad by my favorite snack food companies--Better Made of Detroit!

"Loops-1"

I know I could do a million version of the "Block" series Ive been working on. But I noticed a huge mural in the atrium at Orchestra Hall last weekend and it inspired me to dry doing circles. These are even more fun that the Mondrian influenced ones. Look for more of these to come!

"Mack Sky"

My second attempt with oil paints. This turned out better than my first effort. I'm not entirely sold on them and I still prefer acrylics. Oils require a totally different approach. I do notice a difference in intensity of colors and the coverage. Interesting challenge.

"Dilate

Another "One Word" painting. The word made me think of a dilated pupil. So I painted an eyeball with the reflection of something that looked like a fire in the middle. I was experimenting with some new paints I got for free. The colors were unusual, but I tried to make the best of them.

"Passion Flower"

A Passion Flower from a friend garden. Apparently, they only bloom for one day, so I was fortunate to stop by when I did. Thanks Dave!

"Requiem for a Water Lily"

Out hiking at Metro Beach I noticed the almost total absence of life in the ponds. There was this one dying water lily, which struck me as sad--where did the summer go? The painting is much more subtle in the flesh. Once again, in spite of PhotoShop, one can't really render some paintings very well.

"Blocks #6"

another Mondrian-ish painting. Every once in a while, it's fun to unwind by painting one of these. Obviously there are a million variations of these.

"Argus Seventy-Five"

Another in the series. I need to get serious about putting a book together of my vintage camera paintings. If anyone has any suggestions for how to get a book published. Please contact me. Any help would be appreciated.

"Argus A-Four"

Just another vintage camera painting. I was running out of cool backgrounds and my wife suggested I just one of y aprons. This is a barbecue one she made for me. Pretty colorful--I think it works!

"Birch Backdrop"

  Who doesn't love birch trees?
