"Reflections on Edinburgh"

This was the view out the window of the room we rented in Edinburgh. Interesting use of colored (or coloured, as they say) glass. Love the way the panes distort the scene.

"Sir John Bennett's"

One of the main attractions at Greenfield is this little bake shop. Every hour, the two giants come out and ring the bells. Interesting that this was the clock tower of a much larger building. It's unfortunate that they couldn't preserve the whole thing.

"The Sun at Midnight"

While watching this beautiful little indie film, I caught this perfect scene. So when it was over I went back and took a screen grab. Then I did this watercolor of the scene.

"Robot-Lost in Space"

I just finishing the reboot of the old tv show "Lost in Space". While the original show was over-the-top corny, the new show was really well done. song writing and believable characters. This is my interpretation of the robot who's a major character in the show.

"Wallside Windows"

When I was visiting the Museum of Childhood in Edinburgh a few weeks ago, I happened to look out the window. And this interesting scene across the way caught my eye.

"Eel Marsh House"

I was watching the film "The Woman in Black" starring Daniel Radcliffe a few weeks ago when I noticed this cool scene. So when it was over I went back to the scene and did a screen grab, thinking it might make an interesting painting. I did it in watercolor and tried to give it a ghostly feeling. Where the figure appeared, I gave it a transparent look, to make it a bit creepier.

"St. Giles Sunset"

It was early evening and the orange sun lit up the tops of the buildings in downtown Edinburgh. I loved the way it made the top of St. Giles cathedral glow. Not sure I truly captured the way it looked.

"Dawn of the Living Room"

I loved the interesting shadows the early morning sun created in our living room. I'm guessing most people won't get the title of the painting. Raise your hand if you do!

"Scottish Trio"

My wife and I were in the UK recently. Our first stop was in Edinburgh where we did a lot of walking. One afternoon we walked through the beautiful Princess Street Gardens. There we encountered couples picnicking, and school children eating lunch. I spotted this lovely grouping of birch trees and thought they'd make an interesting painting. Look for a ton more paintings inspired by this trip.

"Hudson's Downtown"

One of my favorite places in the whole world when I was a kid. My friend Tom and I used to hop on a bus and explore downtown on Saturdays. This was such an amazing department sore. Sadly it closed a bunch of years ago, and was eventually town down. What a sad day in Detroit history.

"Fish Fossils #2"

This is the second of two. Not sure if I'll do any more of these, but they're up on
the wall in my bedroom and they look pretty cool, if I don't say so myself.

"Fish Fossils #1"

My in-laws had some fossilized fish framed and displayed in their dining room. I absolutely loved it. So when they passed away a couple years ago, I mentioned that it was one of the only thing of theirs I'd like. Well, my brother-in-law got first dibs on it. When I complained about it to my wife, she suggested I just do a painting of it. What a great idea! So here's the first of two fossil fish I recently painted.

""Berwick-Upon-Tweed"

My wife and I just got back from a couple weeks in the UK. Of course, I took a million photo, so look for a ton of paintings of things I saw there. This was a beautiful scene we saw from our train from Edinburgh to York.

"Robot Mars"

Unless I get some inspiration, I think this is the last one in the series for a while. I just have so many other paintings I need to get to. More of these will have to wait.

"Kiwi's Playhouse"

I decided to revisit this series. I found these in an amazing Armenian grocery story in LA a few weeks ago. They were so vibrant I simply ...
