"Supreme Setup"

 

Celebrated my wife's birthday at a new bistro in town, "La Supreme."

Exceptional food and service, if not a bit pricey. A bonus was the beautiful setting. I noticed this little vignette and took a quick snap. Here's the painting it evolved into. 

"Fall Colors"

 

Spotted this colorful scene just outside my workplace. Thought it would make a nice seasonal/holiday painting. Always fun to play around with watercolors. 

"The Mills Brothers"

Another steel mill painting. Again, I relied on an image I found on the interwebs. 

I just love these old hulks. 

 

"The Stare"

 

Rather proud of this one. I think its my best painting of Lizzie so far. 

Everything just sort of came together. And it even looks like her!

"Pink Daisies"

 

Just a loose little watercolor sketch I did. I used some new watercolors I recently bought (A. Gallo) and this is the first time I've used Aeches paper. 

"Steel Life"

 

I'm fascinated by old factories and steel mills. There's such a majestic beauty to them. I've been painting some of these old hulks in the Detroit area. But for a reference photo of a steel mill, I did a search on the interwebs and found this pic. My wife said it looked lonely. Bingo! 

That's exactly the feeling I was trying to capture. 

"Britannia Bestiary"

 

While touring the Britannia, I noticed this little detail on the small craft that was aboard her.Talk about attention to detail, obviously the boat was built for the Queen. So they spared no expense. What a gorgeous ship. If you're ever in Edinburgh, don't miss this!

"Johnny Rotten Tomato"

 

Our garden has been producing tomatoes like crazy. We have to pick them early before the squirrels get them. They sit out on the counter to ripen. The other day I noticed one that wasn't faring so well and decided to paint it along with the tase ones. 

"St. Martin's York"

 

As soon as we dropped our bags of at our Air B&B, we headed out to explore one of our favorite cities--York. What a beautiful place. We happened upon this gorgeous little gem of a church. 

"Street Corner Royale"

 

Interesting corner I spotted on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh.
