"Water(color) Baby!"

I've painted our cat numerous times, but I thought I'd try doing one in watercolor. A bit more challenging that working in acrylics, thats for sure. I have to admit, this one really looks like her!

"Grecian Wind Flowers"

A find at the new Dutch Garden on Belle Isle--Detroit. Michigan. Not much is in bloom right now,
but in a month or so, it should be magnificent!

"Venice the Menace"

I thought I'd follow an acrylic painting of Venice with one in watercolor. I tried something new here. I used a white crayon in the middle of the canal and around the windows, to resist the paint. The canal area worked out okay, but the windows were less than successful. I had to go mack and use gauche to repair the windows!

"Venice Dreams"

Absolutely the most beautiful city in the world. We love it so much, it's my daughter's middle name. I recently saw a painting of it by Mitchell Johnson and decided to take a crack at it. I tried to keep it loose. I'm thinking of doing a series of Venice paintings. It's an endless source of inspiration, that's for sure.

"Alstro x 2"

A couple of cheerful alstroemeria I spotted at Krogers. Another attempt at watercolors.

"Vase: The Final Frontier"

This scene caught my eye. A crystal vase full of flowers in the late afternoon.

"Cass Community United Methodist"

A beautiful old church in what used to be called the Case Corridor in Detroit. I decided to do a looser style for the one. It just seemed appropriate somehow.

"Mack Ave. Sunset 4-5-23"

I thought I'd do an experiment and paint a sunset using cheaper Liquitex paints. I'm not super pleased with how it turned out. The colors were a little more garish, in my opinion. They didn't blend as easily, and the end result was okay. I think I'll stick with the better grade of paints from now on.

"Living Room Dawn"

A couple weeks ago I came downstairs at dawn and noticed the interesting shadows on the wall and ceiling of our living room. I'm fascinated by light and shadows. I though this could be a cool painting.

"Former Funeral Home-Cass Ave."

Way back when I attended Wayne State University, this was a funeral home, in what used to be called the Case Corridor. It appears to by unoccupied at the moment. But the area has seen a rebirth lately. It's not called Midtown, and I'm sure the house is worth a few bucks.

"Blue Bird of Paradise"

Haven't done a bird painting in a while.
So here's my latest addition to the series.

"Lake St. Clair Sunrise"

A dramatic sunrise over the lake. I saw the same sunrise from my front yard, but since I'm a mile from the lake, I used a friend's post on IG for the painting. Thank you Molly!

"Hammer Time"

Haven't done an offbeat still life in a while. I did this one in sort of sketch mode. I tried to get a little looser. Turned out pretty bright and cheery!

"Kiwi's Playhouse"

I decided to revisit this series. I found these in an amazing Armenian grocery story in LA a few weeks ago. They were so vibrant I simply ...
