"Fender Bender"

In my new part-time job, I get to hang out with a couple of Model A cars. One afternoon, I walked around one of the vehicles and was captivated by the reflections in the body and fenders of the vehicle. Here's a painting I did of it.

"Ford Powerhouse. Windsor"

I was driving around Belle Isle a couple weeks ago . It was around dusk and there was this absolutely beautiful sky. I noticed this cool old power plant across the river in Windsor, Ontario. Thought it'd make an interesting painting.

"Mack Ave. Sunset 9-18-22"

We were all hanging out on our patio for my wife's Birthday and around sunset I noticed how cool the sky looked. So I headed down the street to get a better view of it. There was a little bit of orange in the clouds , but it all disappeared before I could take a photo of it. It still looked pretty interesting!

"Alley-oop!"

This painting is inspired by a blog I found a while ago. It's called 100 alleys and is a project done over a couple years. A Minnesota painter painted 100 alleys. The paintings are great. Mine doesn't hold a candle to them. Perhaps I'll do some more and see where it goes. I'm grateful for the internet to help me discover paintings and styles I wouldn't have ever been exposed to!

"St. Paul's. Again"

This is the church I attended growing up. I've done a couple of paintings of it before. In case you're wondering, it's not actually orange, but the late afternoon sun gave it that color.

"In the Royal Family"

I spotted this classic old typewriter at my place of employment and thought it would be fun to paint. Then I thought I might do a whole series of them--sort of like what I did with cameras. However, I'm not going to go all Tom Hanks with them. They simply take up too much room! So I'l just borrow them from folks to paint.

"Vase is the Place"

While sitting around at work, I notice the cool afternoon shadow coming from this little vase of flowers. Hmmm...I thought it would make an interesting painting, so I took a few snaps. Another painting is coming soon.

"Senate Theatre"

Simple watercolor sketch of an old Art Deco theatre.

Clematis"

Thumbing through a guide to perennials inspired me to do this watercolor. I recently purchased two amazing plant books and am looking forward to perfecting my watercolor skills using them for inspiration. Many more power paintings/sketches on the horizon!

"Dusk at the Lake"

Such drama over the lake! A fiend pointed out that it looked like an atomic bomb blast! Well, I guess it sorta does.

"Some Enchanted Island"

I'm playing around with painting skies in watercolors. So I went on to the interwebs in search of some scenes of islands. I found this one and had some fun with it. Not really happy with the way the water turned ut. But that's the fun of experimenting!

"The Birdwatcher"

I noticed our cat Lizzie absolutely mesmerized by some sparrows just outside my bedroom window. And I loved the way the morning sun made these dramatic shadows. I thought it would make a pretty cool painting.

"Our Lady of the Rosary"

Such an interesting and forboding looking church. It has a medieval fortress book about it.

"Hemerocallis-Daylily"

I've done several paintings of lilies before. But I thought I'd try one in watercolors.
And here you have it. It's been fun exploring working in a new medium.

"Glads in Pink"

Further explorations with watercolors. This one was inspired by a painter I follow on IG.

"Conch on Deck"

Another vignette from our trip to the Bahamas. I just love the color of the ocean. I think I came fairly close to capturing in in this painting. But you can only get so close.

"Imaginary Lake"

Here's an experiment I did. Playing around with the sky and creating clouds by wiping off the wet paint. This is thee first time I tried wet on wet. I used some painter's tape to get the straight horizon line. This was entirely from my imagination, hence, the title.

"If the Cashews Fit..."

  Another one in the series.
