"Mystery Plant-Belle Isle"

I have to idea what this plant is. But I thought it looked quite intriguing, so I decided to paint it.
If anyone knows what it is, feel free to email me.

"Shades of Belle Isle"

A couple weeks ago, we walked through the Belle Isle Conservatory for the east time in a while. It's closing for a year and a half for renovations. Now where are we going to go on cold winter Sunday afternoons? I took a bunch of photos, so look for more paintings from there to come!

"Alley Baba"

I thought I'd try doing an alley painting in watercolors. The idea of alley paintings comes from a blog I stumbled across a while back Check these amazing paintings: https://100alleys.blogspot.com

"Bygone Belle Isle"

Found this ruin on Belle Isle. I think it was some sort of service building for the defunct zoo. It's looks like something you'd find out in the sticks somewhere.

"Smiley Bros."

This used to be the home of Smiley Brothers Pianos. I've been fascinated by this building since I was a kid. We used to drive by in visiting the Detroit Institute of Arts. Finally got around to doing a painting of this historic building. I believe it's now owned by Wayne State University--my Alma Mater!

"Somewhere in Michigan"

Over the past  couple years I've amassed a collection of barn images. So I thought I'd use one to hone my watercolor skills on. I'm not too happy with the way the sky turned out. Obviously it's something I need to work on. But I think the rest of the painting turned out okay. I need to investigate the wet-on-wet technique for skies.
