"Bahamian Shells #1"

While in the Bahamas last summer, I took a whole bunch of photos of shells the owners of the house we stayed at collected. This is the first in a big series of still life paintings fro all the pix I took.

"Triad"

I thought I'd take a stab at a still life in watercolor. Wow. Not easy. A bit disappointed in how this one turned out. This medium is not an easy one to figure out!

"Michigan and Again"

I'm guessing almost no one knows where the title of this painting comes from This is just another attempt at a watercolor landscape painting. It's been fun explore this medium! I'm going to keep at it, for sure.

'First Congregational Church"

This is one of the more unusual churches I've seen. It's located in Midtown Detroit. It's made of big, rust-colored stones.  Just  massive looking hulk of a building. It looks like it could easily survive an atomic blast.

"PM in PA"

Another stab at a watercolor landscape. This is from a photo taken on a trip to Lancaster, PA, visiting my cousin. Absolutely beautiful part of the country.

"Looming Giant"

I love the juxtaposition of the duplex in front of the gutted old factory. It's the Fisher Body Corporation and has been sitting vacant since I was a little kid. I heard a rumor that it was being converted into condos, which took me by surprise. Who in their right minds would want to live in them? I guess it's better than tearing it down. Time parches on!

"Room with a Viewmaster"

I haven't done a still life in a while. So I looked around the house for something interesting to paint. I bought this old view master at a garage sale a while back. I set this up as if someone was spending the evening looking at stereo views while sipping on a bit of the red. I think it turned out okay. Next up--doing some still life watercolor paintings.

"Guard Cat"

Our cat Lizzie soaking up some late afternoon sun. I'll tell ya, pets aren't easy to paint. Between getting the color of the fur right to the general proportions, no simple task. Mine always seem to turn out a bit on the cartoonish side. Oh well, it's all a learning experience!

"Go Green. Go White"

Ive been under the weather and haven't felt like painting. I forced myself to pick up a brush and do something. This is a loose one from some plants on our last visit to the Belle Isle Conservatory in a while. It's closing for a year and a half. I'll certainly miss that place!

"Lettuce Entertain You"

A loose painting of a bunch of lettuce at the Eastern Market.
