"Tripple Header"

 

O a recent trip to LA, we spent a few days in Joshua Tree National Park. Such an interesting place, especially the ferried rock formations. Here's the first of several paintings 

I'm working on from our stay there.

"Beverly's Sill"

 

This is the windowsill on our landing. It was late on a mid-winter afternoon 

and I just love the shadows. Unfortunately none of the orchids were in bloom, 

but I think it actually made for a more interesting composition.

"The Electrical Life of Louis Wain"

 

A scene from the movie of the same title. It's a wonderful film starring Benedict Cumberbach about the incredible cat painter Louis Wain, whose work helped make the cat a household pet. 

"Our Gang"

 

A pile of our daughter's stuffed animals. They were just sitting there, minding their own business when I had to have them pose for a portrait! Okay guys, I'll leave you alone again. 

"Arbor Day"

 

The original concept was to get the red and white roses to come together. Representing the houses of Tudor and York. It's been a long time coming but they just might do it this year! 

"Yahoo Beach"

 

I noticed this image on Yahoo's homepage and thought it might make an interesting painting. Proving once again, you just never know where you'll find a good subject!

"Burano Blues"

One last painting in the Venice series. These have been fun to do!

I haven't done a floral painting in a while. So I thought I'd have a go at one. This was inspired by someone I reconnected with who does absolutely lovely paintings of flowers. I knew her vaguely in middle school and ran into her at a local art show. Look for more of these in he near future.

I found this image on the net and thought I'd paint it. 

It really gives you the feeling of magic you get when visiting this amazing city.

If you haven't seen this movie I highly recommend it. It's filmed in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, and I did a bunch of screen grabs.
