Thumbing through a guide to perennials inspired me to do this watercolor. I recently purchased two amazing plant books and am looking forward to perfecting my watercolor skills using them for inspiration. Many more power paintings/sketches on the horizon!

"Dusk at the Lake"

 

Such drama over the lake! A fiend pointed out that it looked like an atomic bomb blast! Well, I guess it sorta does. 

"Some Enchanted Island"

 

I'm playing around with painting skies in watercolors. So I went on to the interwebs in search of some scenes of islands. I found this one and had some fun with it. Not really happy with the way the water turned ut. But that's the fun of experimenting!

I noticed our cat Lizzie absolutely mesmerized by some sparrows just outside my bedroom window. And I loved the way the morning sun made these dramatic shadows. I thought it would make a pretty cool painting.

Such an interesting and forboding looking church. It has a medieval fortress book about it.

I've done several paintings of lilies before. But I thought I'd try one in watercolors. 

And here you have it. It's been fun exploring working in a new medium.

Another vignette from our trip to the Bahamas. I just love the color of the ocean. I think I came fairly close to capturing in in this painting. But you can only get so close. 

"Imaginary Lake"

 

Here's an experiment I did. Playing around with the sky and creating clouds by wiping off the wet paint. This is thee first time I tried wet on wet. I used some painter's tape to get the straight horizon line. This was entirely from my imagination, hence, the title.
